I mentioned on Monday that this week has been deemed “detox before retox” because when you have a week like I did full of cheese..
..fried chicken..
..barbecue..
..and plenty of beer..
..I needed a break. Before we go away to wine country for our anniversary. So this week has been very lean, clean, and green!
Breakfasts have looked a little like this:
Egg whites, banana, cinnamon, and coconut cashew butter.
Snacks have been especially green!
Still smuicing it up!
Lunches have been salad-filled.
Dinners are protein- and veg-happy.
And because there is always dessert:
A new-to-me ice cream with peanut fluff.
Personally, I know that when I eat foods like grains and starches, even starchy vegetables, my stomach isn’t always happy. And even though I seriously love them, sometimes I just need to give my body a break. I’ve been binging on kabocha and sweet potatoes recently and kabocha-belly is definitely real! My carbs these days are primarily coming from fruits and I’ve also cut back on random snacking. Overall, I’m feeling better after a few days so I’m calling this detox a success thus far.
Food for Thought
What foods are your go-to for detoxing?
Man – I could eat this whole days worth of meals every single day.. especially your bedtime snack. YUM!
I wouldn’t be disappointed if I had chocolate and PB before bed every night 😉
All of that looks good! pretox and detox! Yum!
It was! But I’m definitely enjoying the detox right now.
That ice cream intrigues me! I know the feeling of needing a detox especially before a retox. I’ve found that with my busy Boston life I need to schedule nights out alternating with nights in. Tonight I’m beyond looking forward to my night in since last night as you know entailed a lot of indulgent stuff! Good thing Monday was also a night in. Sandwiching the nights out with nights in is so key to mental and physical well being, right? Also that Brussels and roasted chicken plate looks to die for. I plan to eat some nice lean protein and veggies tonight!
I’m glad you’re able to sandwich your nights out.. it’s always nice to have a quiet night in. Also, I’m once again out of brussels and it’s a travesty!
Both of your meal plans – detoxing and pre-toxing – look amazing! I especially want to dive into that sashimi salad.
And I’m a HUGE fan of Halo Top. Soooo freaking good!!
Oh my gosh the tuna was AMAZING! And I will definitely be trying more Halo Top flavors!
Haha I feel like I spend most weeks detoxing to retox from/in preparation for the weekends!
So, so true 😉
can i just say you look HAPPY! and love the food. always
Can I just say I love you? xoxo
