Fabulous Food & Our Weekly Meal Plan

Hi friends, happy Monday! I hope you had a great, relaxing weekend. Mine kicked off with an early power yoga class at Truve.

Yoga Truve

So not fair.. they’re both yoga instructors!

I’m not much of a yogi but good lordy, my body was sore! I think I need to hit up yoga a little more regularly and get some stretching in. Later, I grabbed lunch with a friend at what may just be my new favorite sushi spot. It just so happens to be about 10 steps away from where I’m moving!

Geta Sushi Sashimi Seaweed Salad

Friday night was our night out on the town. Nathan and I made a deal to go out to eat less on the weekends so we really went for it!

Perennial Abraxas Perdition Smokehouse

Beer #1: Perennial Abraxas

If you can get your hands on this beer, you don’t want to miss out. It’s one of the most complex beers I’ve had and it really makes its way through each of the spices as you drink it. The cinnamon stood out the most but there’s also just a hint of spice at the very end. Amazing.

Perdition Smokehouse Chicken Pork Hot Link Pickles Cauliflower Salad Cowboy Brisket Burnt Ends Beans Acme Bread

2 Meat + 2 Sides: Chicken & pork with cauliflower salad & cowboy beans with burnt ends. Also added a hot link!

Whenever we go to Perdition, we split the 2 meat plate. It comes with 2 sides + pickles and bread; we’d had the pork and chicken before but never tried the hot link so we decided to add that too. It was so much food! But of course, we ate the whole thing. It was wonderful and I definitely went to sleep fat and happy that night. Ha!

Saturday I was so ready to head back to Truve for barre; I’m officially addicted and it may just be my new favorite class. I was also ready for a much lighter day of eats.. and Sizzlefish 😉

Sizzlefish Shrimp Avocado Pickled Watermelon

Sizzlefish shrimp & kale salad with ALL the veggies!

Sizzlefish Atlantic Cod Broccoli Sweet Potato

Digging the Atlantic Cod!

It was nice to stay in and use up some of the extras in the fridge and freezer before we move! Speaking of moving, we had to scedaddle yesterday for a couple hours while our place was being showed to potential renters so we took advantage of a gift card and went out to lunch.

Goose Island Sofie BJ's Brewhouse

Kale Brussels Sprouts Salad Flame Broiled Salmon BJ's Brewhouse

A nice, lighter beer paired with a kale and brussels sprout + salmon salad was calling my name. Delicious! [But more on that later..]

Weekly Meal Plan

Tuesday – Turkey burgers with roasted potatoes & side salad
Wednesday – Grilled chicken/fish & brussels

Scenes From the Weekend + A Surprise 5K

Holy cannoli, I can’t believe it’s already Monday. I hope you had a great weekend! We had a nice weekend of lots of last minute plans. Friday I spent the day at Truve; we officially had our soft opening last Wednesday so I wanted to hang out there. Plus, I got to train one of my clients there too; that was fun! It’s really cool, different space since it’s not a typical gym and I think it’s going to be lots of fun to train there.. otherwise known as more ways for my clients to hate me. Ha!

After Truve, I met Nathan for drinks and a pretty light dinner. We had to save room for dessert..

Ici Ice Cream Pumpkin Caramel Swirl Orange Brandied Currant

Mine: Pumpkin Caramel Swirl; His: Orange Brandied Currant
Both equally amazing!

You may have seen on Instagram that I decided to randomly go for a run last Wednesday. Well, it wasn’t too random.. it happened to be a test run. Around 11:30 Friday night, I decided I was up for a 5K on Saturday. Since one of the trainers from Truve was part of the race organizing team, I wanted to be there to support it and Truve. It was certainly not my best run, but not my worst either.

Post-run with some Truve-rs!

Nathan and I decided to keep it local and hit up a food truck rally right near us for lunch.

Sajj Food Truck Off the Grid Chicken Shawarma

Huge and super flavorful chicken shawarma salad.

Pork Bahn Mi Wrap Off the Grid

The biggest bahn mi wrap I’ve ever done seen!

Yesterday we stayed local again and went for a nice 3 1/2 – 4 mile walk. There was, of course, a beer pit-stop.

Arrogant Bastard

Only the classiest.

Berkeley Aquatic Park

Such a beautiful day!

And while I went to a meeting, Nathan took over the kitchen and made an awesome dinner of crispy Thai pork lettuce wraps with cucumber salad, pickled carrots & daikon, crispy shallots, fresh mint & basil, cashews, and all the hot sauces you can ever want!

Presentation is always key with him.
