Just like that our quiet couple of weeks without company is about to end. My college roommate and her husband are getting in late Wednesday night and staying with us for a week! They’ve never been out to San Francisco before so they’re definitely in for a treat. Do you remember how crazy we went when my parents came out last year? Yea.. there will be plenty of eating, drinking, and hiking! Get ready for some more delicious pictures 😉

Whoooaaa baby, what a Monday! Sunday night I was asked to come into work at 7:30 instead of 10 a.m. No problem, just put a little damper on my workout plans. I’ve said it before, but I swear, I don’t know how I used to keep up with my old workout schedule. Every morning was 45 minutes of cardio and twice a week I went back to the gym after work for 20 more minutes of cardio + strength work. Now I’m lucky if I get in 20 minutes of cardio.. ever. Ha!

Cardio Some Ecards

I’m also such a morning workout-er. That said, because I give myself 3 hours to get through my workout, get myself ready, and sit down to eat breakfast, if I have to get into work earlier than 8, there’s a good chance I won’t get a workout in that day. I consider 6-7 hours on my feet tiring enough. And a mid-week rest day is fine and dandy, but I have another early one today at work and I was not about to take 2 days off.. I need the workout release and I’m so glad I pushed myself to go after work yesterday. Not to mention it wore me out even more. Just what we need for a great night’s rest, yes?

And speaking of great, this list of posts came together in absolutely no time at all. There were so many amazing posts last week so I know you’ll like what I have for you today. Enjoy!

Have you entered my Athleta giveaway yet?

I mentioned recently that I’ve been taking more impromptu rest days than before. In my head, I sometimes feel like I’m being lazy when I get home from work and sit my butt on the sofa. But when I really thought about it, part of the reason I’m resting is because my legs feel so fatigued. It’s easy to forget that standing for 6-8 hours at a time, with one or two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute break, can really take a toll! I may not be on the treadmill or running outside, but there’s a reason standing desks are all the rage. Besides, we all know that sometimes we need to just slow down and go for a walk.

That said, I’m well aware that standing doesn’t have the same benefits as more intense aerobic activity, however, you bet your butt putting my feet up after a long day definitely helps me push it harder at the gym the next day! Wouldn’t want to put myself too hard, right? [How ’bout that transition!]

Sometimes when you have big plans for the weekend, it makes the week go slower. I’m really hoping that’s not the case for me! This Saturday, Nathan and I will be celebrating 11 years together; we’ve only been married for a year and a half but having been together for so long before being married, we just can’t give up the celebrations.

We started talking the other day about what we were going to do, which of course leads to where we’re going to have dinner. Because really, good food and drink? What else is important? Oh right.. the company. Well, low and behold, Nathan had a little trick up his sleeve! I got an email invite for dinner Saturday but with no location; I spent quite a bit of time guessing but after a few dropped hints, I figured it out. Gather is on the docket and I can’t wait! Everything looks and sounds incredible. I’m going to have a really hard time figured out what to order and I can’t wait to share the pictures!

Until then, you know the dealio.. enjoy!

Hi friends! I hope your week is going well so far. I was able to have a nice, relaxing Monday without having to run off to work. It was great to take my time at the gym in the morning, eat my breakfast at a reasonable pace, prep some extra food for the week, and get myself ready for a conference call in the afternoon. Quiet weekdays are sometimes a necessary and welcome change of pace.

I’ve had a project in mind over the past couple months and am trying to workout the details, but in the meantime, I’m going to be adding an extra page to the blog [<– accountability!] for personal training. I’m hoping in the coming months to unveil an online training program for purchase! Until then, I want to offer customized personal training plans. If you’re interested, shoot me an email and let’s get chatting! And of course, if you’re in the bay area and are looking for a trainer [or know someone who is!], I’d love to work with you.

Yesterday started out with a bang.. or really a little snap, crackle, pop. I was doing high knees in only the second set of my workout and my ankle rolled. The side of my foot was practically perpendicular to my leg and I was definitely seeing stars. I took it easy and ended up being able to finish my workout. Very carefully.

Looks good, right? Ugh. You bet I got my feet up and ankle iced when I got home from work though.

Wow, where did Monday go?! Yesterday completely flew by but I’m thinking I’ll take some more of those days right about now. With each passing day, I’m getting more and more excited to head back home! There are also lots of exciting things going on over here that I’m hoping to share with you soon. Let’s just say fingers crossed! In the meantime, my birthday is coming up pretty quickly and of course dinner reservations have already been made [at NOPA] and I’m getting super psyched!

I have no smooth transition into links this week, so I’m just going to say enjoy! 😉

I’m seriously a lightweight when it comes to waking up crazy early now. I guess I’m not really expected to have a ton of energy waking up at 4am when I couldn’t fall asleep till midnight, but I passed the heck out after work yesterday! It took everything I had to make myself lunch when I got home and keep my eyes open long enough for a conference call but once I hung up, it was lights out. Or really, zonked out on the couch. At least the 5am shifts are only once a month.

I’ve got some blog reading to catch up on from yesterday, but in case you missed some great posts from last week, I’m here to help!
