Five Things Friday

IT’S HERE!! IT’S FRIDAY! Can you tell I’m excited to sleep in and enjoy my rest day tomorrow? πŸ˜‰

  1. Despite all of my excitement, the clouds were looking rather ominous this morning. I packed up my rain boots, threw on my rain coat, and ran out of the house to head to work. Without an umbrella. And then it started raining while I was on the bus. Luckily I only have about 5 1/2 blocks of walking to my office once I get off the bus and the rain wasn’t coming down too hard yet.

I’m going to miss this view..

  2. I also broke out a new top today.. Target with the win!

Oh hey work bathroom! It’s a good thing I’m not awkward at all.

  3. Speaking of new finds, Marshalls came up big again the other day. I may have gone in looking for a bandana for my Halloween costume and a new coat, but I came away with these bad boys.
Old South Pickled Hot Brussels Sprouts

Is this considered strange but good?

They’re seriously delicious and I could probably eat the whole container in one sitting.

  4. Another new find is Ceylon Cinnamon.
Flavor of the Earth Ceylon Cinnamon Powder

Mmm this won’t take me long to get through!

Typically you find Cassia Cinnamon at the grocery store which isn’t even really cinnamon! This Ceylon Cinnamon is from Sri Lanka and is a great source of Manganese, Fiber, Calcium and Iron. As for the difference, you definitely get a slightly spicier scent, especially when you add it to something hot [like coffee or oats!]. That same spicier scent is also something that you taste; it’s almost like a cinnamony-er cinnamon which I love! I would definitely recommend trying it out if you’re a cinnamon-lover like I am. You can buy it here from Amazon.

  5. I can’t believe it’s November 1 already. That means it’s moving month already! And that means this weekend starts the packing. Anyone have boxes? Send em my way! Oh, and bring yourself to help pack too πŸ˜‰

Would you try pickled, hot brussels sprouts?

Have you ever tried Ceylon Cinnamon before? Did you notice a difference?

Marvelous Leftovers and Fabulous Finds

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a marvelous weekend.. I know I did.

Marvelous is kicking off the weekend with a semi-impromptu date night. We had planned on going out but as the day progressed, we decided it might be better to stay in and order carryout from one of our favorite little restaurants. To my surprise, on my walk home, Nathan called me and told me to meet him out on the main road so he could swing by and pick me up for our original date night plan. Off to Ten Ten!

Cocktails, Fried Brussels Sprouts, Ragu, & Local Rockfish

Our meal started off with their famous fried brussels sprouts. They were amazing and I’ll be sharing more detail in my WIAW post this week, but for now just enjoy the mouth-watering picture πŸ˜‰

Marvelous is having leftovers! I was super excited to have leftover rockfish for my lunch on Saturday. It was just as delicious the next day!

And not only did I enjoy leftovers for lunch on Saturday, but I had leftovers on Sunday too! We had dinner at The Red Star on Saturday night and I ended up bringing home half of my sweet chili salmon. Yum!

Marvelous is finally finding a sweater long enough to wear with leggings! I’ve been looking for a year for a sweater that I like and now that I found this one, I might have to buy it in more colors πŸ™‚

Marvelous is incredibly huge and flavorful local fuji apples! I found these bad boys at the little Thursday farmers’ market near my office and they’re amazing! In years past, I haven’t been able to find local apples that are crisp but this year they are absolutely perfect. And they size of my head!

Marvelous Weekend Recap and Monday Meet Up!

Monday already? The weekend always flies, but it was another good one. Yet again, I failed at taking many pictures, but I do have a little bit of a recap..

Marvelous is finishing off Friday with another no-grain maple chia cake from the awesome STUFT mama and a going away party for a friend at The Red Star. We’d never been there before, but they had some good happy hour special and the food was good. I, of course, went for a salad which was a bit small, but I should be used to that. Next time I’ll definitely go for one of their sandwiches or the awesome looking fish tacos!

Marvelous is driving out to the burbs on Saturday to hang out by my parents’ house. Their A/C bit the dust while they were away and were able to get someone to come out and fix it on the weekend. I made a little day trip out of it and headed over to Target and Trader Joe’s.. wish we had those in the city! I finally found the new flips I’ve been looking for. They’re already gone.

Marvelous is a Saturday night was spent with friends, grilling, drinking [too much] sangria, and playing games. The boys really enjoy video games.. especially Nathan.

Cute, right?

We also played Cards Against Humanity. If you’ve never played, you should definitely get on it.. it’s hilarious! And only made better by sangria πŸ˜‰ I also made a killer guacamole with a secret ingredient which I’ll be sharing soon. That lasted about as long as the sangria.

Marvelous is Farmers’ Market Sundays. We got there bright and early before the crowd got too crazy and walked away with a nice haul! You have to know where to go and I found a stand where everything is $2. I got 6 zucchini, 8 beets, and a ton of green purple beans. I also picked up some beautiful swiss chard, HUGE blackberries, lemon pistachio granola from Michele’s, peaches and nectarines, and of course, Zeke’s coffee. Totally lucked out with the granola.. last week was supposed to be the final week for the lemon pistachio seasonal and we didn’t make it to the market. I was pretty psyched when I saw that they still had it!

Baltimore Farmers Market Blackberries Fuji Apples HIIT

Farmers’ Market haul, huge fruits, and a great run!

Marvelous is a great run after the market. I’ve been trying to do Sunday runday and yesterday I did 10 minutes run, 5 minute sprint HIIT, 5 minute recovery, three times through for 60 minutes. It felt good to switch it up. I also went to the store to stock up on a few more things for the week.. it must be the season for ginormous fruit because these apples were bigger than my hands!

Marvelous is the Orioles sweeping the Rangers. Or really, they can sweep any team and I’ll be happy! πŸ™‚

Marvelous is meeting up with some fantastic Charm City Healthy Living Bloggers tonight. I’m so looking forward to it.. it’s about time I get to meet these ladies!
