Just like that our quiet couple of weeks without company is about to end. My college roommate and her husband are getting in late Wednesday night and staying with us for a week! They’ve never been out to San Francisco before so they’re definitely in for a treat. Do you remember how crazy we went when my parents came out last year? Yea.. there will be plenty of eating, drinking, and hiking! Get ready for some more delicious pictures 😉

Good news! Last night I met with a new personal training client who ended up signing up for a bunch of sessions AND I’m meeting with another new client this morning! Between not working in a traditional gym where I would be handed clients and not having much of a network in California, it’s taken a bit longer than I expected to grow my clientele but I’m feeling like we’re actually getting somewhere these days. It’s pretty darn exciting and I’m really hoping things are going to be picking up even more in the near future. Woo!

Have you entered my Peanut Butter & Co. giveaway?

After staying with my parents for 2 weeks in Baltimore, it feels downright strange to be back in California. I’m a little confused as to where I actually live and why my parents aren’t around watching tv at night. Ha! Of course, Nathan and I made sure to get a little pick-me-up after we landed.

Anchor Brewing Winter Wheat Steam

Well, that pick-me-up really ended up making us even more tired after a 3 a.m. wake up call so we just made our way to the grocery store and then back to the apartment to unpack. Just in case we didn’t have enough beer in our lives, we successfully hauled about 12 more beers back from Baltimore! Do you know how hard it is to find Bourbon County Stout?!

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Stillwater Stateside Saison Brewers Art Ozzy

It was a long, tiring day so I was more than thankful for a delicious bibimbop carryout dinner from around the corner. Success!

Spoon Bibimbop

I knew it was necessary when the thought of even microwaving the meatballs in the freezer seemed like too much. Yep. But now we’re back to the daily grind.

I feel like I’ve hardly been on the interwebs at all since I got home so this post was a fun one. I usually have a bunch of posts that I share and add to my link love post throughout the week, but this time I had a bit of catching up to do! Apparently I’ve unintentionally decided to take a little social media detox and I think it’s a good thing. I’m loving all of the family time and I’m happy to put my computer and phone down to soak it all in. I hope you’ve had the chance over the holiday to do the same.

Today is the kind of day that has become more and more common over the past couple months. I have an early morning at Athleta—6 a.m. to be exact—and whereas I used to be completely bummed that I’d miss my morning workout. These days, if a 6 a.m. shift means that I take an unplanned rest day because I just don’t feel like going to the gym when I get home, well then so be it.

Last week as I walked home from work, I tried bargaining with myself.

It’s not that long of a workout.
If I go to the gym before I sit down at home, I can definitely do it.
No cardio today. Just hit the weights and get it done.

Then I realized how tired my legs really were. Which made me realize how tired my whole body was. And if I just go home, put my feet up, and rest a bit, I’d be able to hit it harder at the gym the next day. And that’s exactly what I did. I’ve said it before, but it really is a hell of an idea to actually listen to your body. Who would have thought that you own body knows what’s best for it? It’s certainly a challenge for me and I know it is for others too, but it’s something that I’m really focusing on, especially with the holiday season coming up. That said, I want to challenge you to focus on listening to your own body more. Deal? Deal.

Hi friends! I hope your week is going well so far. I was able to have a nice, relaxing Monday without having to run off to work. It was great to take my time at the gym in the morning, eat my breakfast at a reasonable pace, prep some extra food for the week, and get myself ready for a conference call in the afternoon. Quiet weekdays are sometimes a necessary and welcome change of pace.

I’ve had a project in mind over the past couple months and am trying to workout the details, but in the meantime, I’m going to be adding an extra page to the blog [<– accountability!] for personal training. I’m hoping in the coming months to unveil an online training program for purchase! Until then, I want to offer customized personal training plans. If you’re interested, shoot me an email and let’s get chatting! And of course, if you’re in the bay area and are looking for a trainer [or know someone who is!], I’d love to work with you.

Thank you all so much for all of the shares and comments on yesterday’s post! I love making other blogger’s recipes and it’s fun to see other people so excited about one of my recipe ideas. If you do try them out, tweet or instagram a picture to me so I can see 🙂

Speaking of other blogger’s recipes, I love my Tuesday link love posts because not only do I get to share some of my favorite posts from the past week, but I also take some time to revisit them too. Even if there are some posts here that you’ve already read, I’d suggest giving some of them a second look; you may take away something new than you did the first time. You may also get some new killer workout moves.. I know I’m looking for some new ones for when I’m training Nathan [watch out! ;)] Enjoy!

Morning, friends! I think I conveniently forgot to mention that my first training session on Friday went great! I was able to get a good baseline and do some basic workouts but I warned her that I’d be kicking her butt soon enough.. she’s in for it this week 😉

Yesterday was another whirlwind of a day; I got a great workout in, went to work, and had just enough time to shove a monster salad in my face before heading to a meeting with the owner of Truve and a few other trainers. Lots of goal-setting was done and plans of attack were made. I’m really looking forward to getting my training career up and running. If you’re in the bay area and looking for a trainer, hit. me. up! But if you’re looking for some butt-kicking workouts and some more awesome posts, hit up the links below.
